An Album from The Shelf

Today I am going to write about music, but not mine. Just Enemy Mine.

First I will introduce my music collection which I call ‘The Shelf’ which will prove how crazy my music tastes are. I listen to quite a few genres, including Indie bands like Arcade Fire, 80s rock bands like Genesis, post 80s material like Nine Inch Nails, pop-rock like The Church, progressive rock bands like Rush, Hip Hop mix bands DJ Shadow, mind fucking beats like Aphex Twin, alt country like Ryan Adams, experimental rock bands like Wilco, melodic electronica like Psykosonik, 90s alternative like Smashing Pumpkins, 2000s alternative like TV on the Radio, new aged rap projects like Saul Williams, doom metal bands like My Dying Bride, math metal bands like Meshuggah, progressive metal bands like Burst, and black metal bands like Mayhem. I am sure I am missing a few genres.. perhaps a dozen. The Shelf contains imagination, inspiration, and keeps me quite happy.

Swan Lake – Enemy Mine

This is an incredible album. Anybody who has a chance to listen to their first album Beast Moans, will find a new world behind the veil. This band consists of Carey Mercer of Frog Eyes, Daniel Bejar of Destroyer, and Spencer Krug of Wolf Parade, Sunset Rubdown. For those who are not familiar with these artists and are interested, this is a very strange place to start. These musicians have a strange style of writing and sound where it could be quite difficult to describe, but I guess you could say that listening to the artists other projects will seem like walking carelessly through jungle, stumbling over artifacts never before seen. This band in particular is like being in the middle of this jungle, in it’s most secret place.

The songs sound as if they were written acoustic and the songs feel more intimate compared to their first album which sounded less natural and thus more experimental. This is not to say that they played it safe on their second album as the complexity is still there. Beast Moans is one of my top 10 favorite albums, and Enemy Mine is definitely growing on me.

I do not know if these artists are on sites like itunes as I buy only physical copies of albums, but if you are interested in this band check out these tracks:

A Venue Called Rubella (from Beast Moans)
All Fires (from Beast Moans)

Spanish Gold, 2044 (from Enemy Mine)
Heartswam (from Enemy Mine)

The Greatest April 13th 2009 Of All Time

Something which annoys me quite a bit is becoming quite common these days. Since I am a fan of a lot of different media types, including Music, Games, Movies, and British Dentist Porn (whatever), I see quite a lot of ‘The Greatest BLAH of all time!’ lists. An example of one of these lists would be ‘The Top 10 xbox 360 games of all time!’ which just sounds retarded to me since the xbox 360 has not been available for even a fraction of our human history. For this reason, all greatest lists I will create in the future will be bastardized.

Soon I will be adding Featured Artist threads and so forth. If you have any requests, please comment. *snort*

I am having a knee slapping good time!

The Hilarity of The Drugs

Yes, I am currently on something. It is not what you think.. I recently decided (instead of going out for a movie) to get all of my wisdom teeth pulled. It turned out that this feature was lacking an awesome ending, instead ending like a grim view of our future after World War Three.

So how goes it there, spammers and other? Registrations got yer tongue? Haha! Yes, I said to comment yet you are unable to do so. I find this very entertaining. You see, the last time I allowed anybody to register and comment, I was overwhelmed by spammers. My current plan is to let things build for a bit then allow you to comment. What would you comment about? The weather? Yeah, I know what you would comment about. It would be something like ‘Need a larger Vagina? Take these pills! Instant mutant!’. I have seen them all.

I will open the comment section to users shortly, that is, shortly in my universe of inconsistent time.

Update on current projects: The Tower’s Heartbeat was born a few weeks back out of a nightmare.  The Avate (or Avation Projects) albums are going to require a lot of strings.

Today’s advice: Do not mix medications.

Pain for the Medication

While I am home tonight, due to a very painful toothache, I decided to look around on the internet for things that make me more upset than I currently am, just for fun!

http://themoderatevoice.com/28089/why-america-must-address-gun-control-guest-voice/

Here is an article about avoiding the scapegoat blame of video games Causes Violence and blames another scapegoat – guns. Apparently, if we were to increase gun control then we would have a better society.

Face it, people hurt and kill people because people WANT to hurt and kill people! This has always been the case and it will always be. If we did not have any guns we would find other instruments of pain.

Video games are easy to blame because they are a source of entertainment that few people properly understand. Many people who are ignorant about games think they use mind control through repetition to force people to commit violence. If this sounds ridiculous, go and ask some people, and wear an anti-games shirt to push them to be honest about their feelings.

Guns are instruments of war and since that is a part of human nature and since conflict is a part of any living thing, guns or the common weapon will be here to stay. People will never be able to prevent guns from being brought into their country, or prevent somebody from using one.

Violence is something we cannot prevent if we continue to finger point like this. We need to educate, take responsibility, and remove the ‘good decent soul’ portion of our societies teachings because deep down, you and I, we are all able to do horrible things and we know it. You are not a sinner, you are a living person and you will defend what you believe in, if it is your belief in god or belief that you should protect the ones you love. The truth is, if somebody were about to hurt somebody you loved, you could do horrible things to protect them.

This is not to say that I am pro gun, I am from Canada and we do not see very many guns. I believe in the gun registry and think owning a gun for personal protection is a way to only look for trouble.

Feel free to comment.

The Authenticity and Sarcasm

This is a general note – these general notes usually contain general information, but not this note. This note contains sarcasm, much sarcasm.

Sarcasm is the most important thing in the universe, forever.

It makes conversation difficult to understand, and important pieces of sarcastic conversation can become important literature – although when written it loses its sarcasm and becomes fact.

This is a difficult introduction to this blog and I hope you enjoy it’s birth as much as its middle-aged and overweight future self. There is a chance that those reading this blog have ventured to its beginning to search for an opening statement or perhaps something to show it has evolved from happy and young to its hidious or frightfully mutated peresent self. This is true, I have ventured into the future and see what lies there and it is not pretty – I must juggle my beliefs and opinions as well as those important topics which get me into trouble more carefully. Remember the one last week?? Wow, how did I get myself into that topic?

I will now watch this post disappear as time passes and imagine those who search for it commenting about it, go ahead. Was what I saw in the looking-glass true or was I looking into my beer glass instead? I always mix those two up.

Stay tuned for much controversial..
